For authentic, Italian pizza, look no farther than Fredrick Avenue. Il Lazzarone opened in St. Joseph in 2014. Since then, the restaurant, located at 1628 Fredrick Ave., has become a destination for Neapolitan pizza. Josh Young recently bought both Il Lazzarone St. Joseph and its second location in Kansas City. Young has been with the restaurant since it opened, and he said buying the business was a natural transition.
“I was running all the operational side of things for the last, probably, year and a different opportunity came up for (previous owner Erik Borger) that he wanted to take advantage of and it was a mutual agreement between us,” he said. “I was the guy doing most of the operational stuff from the beginning, for the most part anyways. It was just a seamless transition for me to take over ownership.”
