Ashley, Paulina and Jon Swan remember their grandfather, Vern Swan, as a guy who liked to sit in his recliner, stirring his Scotch with his pinky, and listen to jazz. Lee, his wife, was a great cook, especially known for her Swedish meatballs. They had a little garden in the back yard, where they'd grow the tomatoes that would find their way into homemade sauce.
Now the siblings, along with barman Casey O'Mara, are teaming up on a new restaurant called Vern's. It will pay homage to the Swans' grandparents and memories of visits to their home in Jamestown, Chautauqua County. "That was a place where we always went and felt really welcome,” Jon Swan said. “We had fond memory of that time in our life."
