Enrollment is now open for the second year of 42 Roma Luiss, the coding school, based on a learning by doing model, supported by Luiss and Riccardo Zacconi, the inventor of Candy Crush, based on the French model of École 42.

There are no professors, zero lectures, no classes: yet it's a revolutionary coding school, where students learn on the job. From their own mistakes. The good news? You don't pay tuition and you don't need degrees to get in. The only requirement: merit. All you have to do is pass (difficult) logic tests and be at least 18 years old.

"This is more than a coding school, it's a launch pad into the digital world for very talented young people," Zacconi tells us. "The world has changed a lot since I was a student. Today, the technology sector allows those who are competent to create world-class champion companies. With few investments and in a very short time" he assures.

"In Italy we have an enormous potential, not exploited, of intelligent, creative people, ready to take risks and to work hard. However, technical competences are missing. This is the main reason why we launched the school".

No professors or lectures. Students learn through collaboration with colleagues: they will have to overcome 200 projects of increasing difficulty (21 levels in all). It starts from basic coding knowledge to specialization tracks: cybersecurity, app development, video game design, entrepreneurship.

42 Roma Luiss  is looking for 150 students. The preparation is of the highest level. Last year, more than 4,600 people applied, and about 870 passed the first logic test. The steps to pass: two online tests, an introductory meeting on campus and the so-called "Swimming Pools", a 4-week full immersion in the world of coding. Those who learn to swim gain access to the school. The next Pools will be held Sept. 27^th through Oct. 22^nd, then in late October and November.

"My dream is that one day one of the students will create a unicorn on a global level. And I am convinced it is possible. This experience can change Italy," Zacconi concludes.
