Rilling visits Winfield Street Italian Deli

Under the new ownership of Breno Donatti, Winfield Street Italian Deli is still going strong as sales are up 35 percent from last year. "We are doing much better than I thought," said Donatti. "You take a risk when a deli like Winfield's gets a new owner and tries new things on the menu."

Winfields started in Norwalk in 1925 by the Buono family when they opened an Italian deli and market. Donatti is the sixth owner of the deli and has revamped the shop with his own spirit and family influences. "(Donatti) knows his customers by name and that's what you need to do as a small business," said Mayor Harry Rilling.
