As Rita's Italian Ice franchisees Jeff and Jay Miller expand the concept in Kansas, Wichitans have an opportunity to try the ice for free on Friday. It's a 23-year tradition for the Philadelphia-based Rita's to give away its flavored ice to celebrate the first day of spring.
Last year, the Millers' first Rita's next to their Five Guys Burgers and Fries near 29th and Rock Road wasn't open in time for the celebration, but it's participating this year.
