Rome has been ranked the best city in the world to explore on foot, according to a new international list compiled by GuruWalk, a free walking tour platform that connects local guides with travelers eager to experience cities in a more alternative, slow-paced, and sustainable way.
The Top 100 Best Walking Cities ranking highlights destinations that are ideal for walking, based on factors such as architectural beauty, urban livability, variety of walking routes, and cultural heritage. In terms of the number of cities included in the ranking, Italy came in second—behind only Spain—with eight cities featured: Rome, Florence, Venice, Milan, Naples, Catania, Bologna, and Verona.
