A blissful nostalgia compelled restaurateur Steve DiFillippo to visit the site of the original Davio's on Newbury Street as the 30th anniversary of his landmark northern Italian steakhouse approached. DiFillippo, 54, invited the Boston Herald along for a physical and metaphorical walk down memory lane, from his flagship Arlington Street eatery through bustling Back Bay.
"Just being here to me, it's pretty emotional," said DiFillippo, as we arrived at 269 Newbury St., now home of Japanese eatery Itadaki. "We do more business today in a day than we did in a week or two here. But this is where it all started. This will always be in my heart. I miss it."
