Sicily is the favorite destination of the super rich: suffice it to say that in the first three months of 2023, nearly 500 millionaires arrived on the island for short stays in luxury locations. Among the celebrities who have chosen the beauty of the Sicilian territory are U.S. actor Will Smith and Fendi designer Kim Jones.
Luxury vacations in Sicily are becoming increasingly trendy: the average expense for a ten-day stay is 20 thousand euros, but the wealthiest vacationers get to spend even more than 50 thousand euros in a month, opting for additional services such as private chef and masseur.
This phenomenon has grown since the Covid-19 pandemic: many are choosing the most expensive locations because they guarantee safer stays. Affluent foreign and Italian VIPs spare no expense in visiting Sicily: mostly both Italian and foreign VIPs, but also German, Swiss, and Canadian businessmen and tycoons.
With 487 renters, Sicily was among the most requested regions between January and March 2023, second only to Tuscany, which recorded a whopping 600 bookings.
Among Sicily's most popular cities are Syracuse, Trapani and of course Palermo, voted one of the sunniest cities in Italy with an average of 340.27 hours per month.
Millionaire tourists seek luxury destinations throughout Sicily, and in demand are Syracuse, Noto, San Vito Lo Capo, Mondello, Cefalù and Taormina, taken by storm for being one of the locations of the TV series "White Lotus."
Also popular are the islands of Sicily: from Ortigia to Lampedusa, via Panarea, Favignana and Pantelleria. In Palermo, to stay at Villa Tasca, one exceeds 5,000 euros per night, while for Castello Romeo, dating back to the 18th century, the owner also accepts payments in cryptocurrency.
In 2023, Sicily is the most sought-after region in Europe: trends predict exciting numbers for the entire real estate sector, both on the rental housing front and in terms of properties for sale.
