The Sons of Italy was abuzz with activity on Saturday with 18 bocce teams battling it out in the second annual CompTechPCS/SOI No. 1169 BocceFest Scholarship Tournament. The tournament has become a good tuneup for a large tournament to be held in Lake County in two weeks. “We’re practicing the four-on-four format,” said Holly Hilvers from Lexington, Kentucky.
Tony Fasano, a regular in the Sons of Italy leagues, was drafted to play for a team from Wickliffe. “They needed someone,” he said. Fasano added: “It is nice to see diverse people from out of the area. It is good competition.”
