The Malacari family is building an ice cream empire in Luzerne County, expanding to yet another location. Frank Malacari said Friday his family plans to open another ice cream shop at a site they purchased at 33 S. Wyoming Ave. in Edwardsville that formerly housed Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
“Customers on the West Side have been asking for a location there and when we saw this open up, we thought it was a good spot to accommodate these people,” Malacari said. He has not yet set a date for the opening of that location, but he said another ice cream shop will open 3 p.m. Feb. 7 in the Hanover Mall on the Sans Souci Parkway in Hanover Twp. in a site that formerly housed PNC Bank.
