For many people — including yours truly — Tavernetta by Frasca is the most anticipated new restaurant opening of the year. It was originally supposed to open this spring, but construction delays pushed it back further and further, keeping us from what is bound to be one of the city’s best Italian restaurants. Thanks a lot, construction delays. But the wait is finally over. Tavernetta will open on Sept. 13.
I got a sneak peek at the space and the menu, and I’m happy to report back that, yes, Tavernetta is shaping up to be the glorious Italian restaurant we are all hoping it would be. Lower priced than its sister restaurant, Frasca (entrees range from about $20-28), but still maintaining that obsessive attention to detail and service, this opening is going to make Union Station even more popular than it currently is. Yes; I, too, shudder at the thought.
