The spinoff of the Church Street Tavern that opened on Shelburne Road early last year has closed and will be replaced next month by an Italian eatery. Tavern II, which the owners of the Church Street Tavern brought to the South Burlington site in 2017, had its last day of business Sept. 8. A new restaurant, Sorriso Pizzeria and Bar, will open in early November, according to owner Amir Jusufagic.
Jusufagic and business partner Sani Pasagic recently converted the Junior’s Downtown location on Main Street in Burlington into Piesanos, a pizza place that now also serves items such as falafel and gyros. That’s a 30-seat restaurant, but Sorriso will be nearly triple that, at approximately 80 seats.
