For those flocking to the city for the Fourth, don’t rush home after. Stay a few extra days and attend a dream come true: The first ever annual Boston Pizza Festival. On July 8 and 9, Boston City Hall Plaza will be taken over by 27 massive, handcrafted wood-fired ovens, courtesy of Marra Forni. The smell alone will captivate the attention of any passerby.
Every year, people seek answers to the same question: Where can one find the best pizza in Boston? For Giancarlo Natale of the North End, pizza is more than just a food option. For a number of years, Natale and his family have attended the annual Naples Pizza Village, a.k.a. the largest pizza festival in the world. With a background in event planning and deep roots to both Naples and Boston, Natale began planning this event about a year ago. When he saw that Boston had never had one like it, he organized meetings with the delegation department in Naples to understand how to effectively produce an event like theirs.
