La Lucciola is Salem's newest pizza place inside Fork Forty Food Hall. The restaurant's name means firefly in Italian, fitting for a spot anchored by a flickering brick oven. Phil Golomski is both chef and pizzaiolo at La Lucciola, which he owns in partnership with Mark Iselin. The pair met more then a decade ago while both were working at Wild Pear.
Golomski was living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, laid off from a restaurant job, when Iselin called him about the Fork Forty space. By mid-June he was back in Salem and a few weeks after that, Golomski opened the restaurant.
