Every time we're in Portsmouth, I'm amazed at the number of well-established restaurants I still haven't visited in the town where I grew up. Radici had been one of them, but we've now checked that off the list after a great dinner that made us feel like we were dining in the Italian countryside.
Radici occupies a fairly small storefront on upper Congress Street. You enter to the larger of two dining spaces, which incorporates the bar. We were seated in the adjoining smaller dining room, with six or eight tables and plate glass windows to the sidewalk. The decor is simple: beige walls with stylized bare-tree murals, modern lighting and photos of Italy by a local photographer grace the walls.
