
Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, widely-known just as “Pepe’s,” has launched its own retail tomato line to the market, according to a release. The restaurant, founded in 1925 by Frank Pepe, is known for its New Haven-style pizza. Frank Pepe, who immigrated to the United States in 1909 at the age of 16, and fresh tomatoes were always at the center of his life, according to the release.
Sold in 28 oz. cans, Pepe’s “Genuine Italian Tomatoes” are hand selected by Frank Pepe’s family members, who “happen to be experts in finding fresh and flavorful tomatoes,” according to the release. Once a year, Frank Pepe’s grandsons, who now serve as co-owners of the world-renowned pizzeria, come together for a blind taste test of freshly-harvested tomatoes that come right from their family’s hometown of Naples, Italy, according to the release.
