Chicken parmesan is a staple on the menu at Italian restaurants, but rarely is it a standout. So when our waitress at DG's Family Restaurant in Brewerton recommended it, we were skeptical.
It turns out DG's has good reason to put "parmesan-style" entrees at the top of its list of specialties. Our chicken was thick and juicy, coated with a crispy breading that was ample enough to assert itself, but not to the point of overwhelming the meat. The mozzarella was nicely applied, too, and the homemade meat sauce was a deeply satisfying crown for the dish, a hearty tomato blend with a bit of sweetness.
