Lindenhurst’s Italian ice and ice cream shop Uncle Louie G’s changed hands earlier this year. The new operators are Michael and Nora Dorso, a husband and wife team who’s lived in the neighborhood for 25-plus years. Michael, a former Toys ‘R Us employee, and Nora, a teacher at Brentwood High School, decided to purchase their first business together after years of frequenting the frozen treat shop.
“We live right down the block,” said Michael. “It is a great community with the best neighbors.” Since taking over, the Dorsos remodeled the inside of the location at 198 East Montauk Highway with fresh paint and new decorations. They also transitioned the business from being opened seasonally to year-round.
