A new Italian-American is bringing a bevy of traditional dishes to Midtown inside of a recently opened luxury European hotel. At Allora Ristororante, inside Le Méridien at Fifth Avenue and 31st Street, one of their signature dishes is based on a 600-year-old six-foot-long piece of pasta.
The rustic Abruzzese recipe Maccheroni alla Mugnaia (Miller’s Wife Pasta) includes a two-yard long noodle that is then tossed in a ragu with teeny meatballs, dried chilies, Parmigiano Reggiano and peperoncino. That's only one of the signature dishes served up by Chef-owner Elio Albanese steeped in history.
