The best Italian restaurant in the whole of the U.S. is right here in NYC, according to a new survey – perhaps not surprising as the city also has more Italian Americans than anywhere else. The Daily Meal's "America's 50 Best Italian Restaurants" list crowned the Meat Packing District's Del Posto as the best Italian restaurant in the country.
The famed restaurant — where the eight-course "Captain's Menu" will set you back $194 per person (not including wine) — was awarded a rare four stars in 2010 by the New York Times, which called it "a pleasure that lasts, offering memories of flavors that may return later in a dream."After Del Posto, the Daily Meal said another 10 Italian eateries are worthy of high praise.
