Energy supply networks, the defense manufacturing chain, key infrastructure, and even executives at companies deemed strategic by the U.S. and Israel are all under renewed scrutiny. The latest phase of conflict, sparked by the attack on Iran, is forcing Italy to step up its game when it comes to preventing potential terrorist threats on its soil.
An updated list of sensitive targets in Italy now includes around 29,000 locations — over 10,000 of them classified as critical infrastructure, with 4,000 in Rome alone. Roughly 800 of these sites are American, including diplomatic offices, international schools, universities, and cultural centers.
