The new ISTAT report on agritourism businesses in Italy (2023) highlights a growing trend both in terms of the number of establishments (26,129, +1.1% compared to 2022) and the number of guests (4.5 million, +11%). However, the most significant increase is seen in the value of agritourism production (€1.871 billion), which marked a +15.4% increase over the previous year. Agritourism businesses offering restaurant services – the “agri-restaurants” – total just over 13,000 (about 50% of the total). Among the three activities—lodging, dining, and tasting—tasting has the highest growth (+3.8%). This data seems to confirm the connection between agritourism and the broader, varied world of quality products: two sectors that contribute to the national and international prestige of “Made in Italy.”
