The first ever 100% biodegradable coffee capsule was created in Italy, the result of a five year joint research by Lavazza, one of the main coffee producers, and Novamont, a pioneering group in biodegradable plastics. Expo Milano 2015 from May 1 will be a chance to launch the new “green phase” of a market that is quickly moving in the direction of single-serve containers.
Experiments with this new product will be done during Expo, where Lavazza will be the official coffee supplier of the Italian Pavilion.
