It will be the Historical Museum of Communication in Rome that will become the world's first museum space close to zero energy consumption. The ambitious project is by artist Geo Florenti, who presented his "Hybrid Museum" in Rome during World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development.
Inaugurated in 1982, the Museo Storico della Comunicazione is an impressive exhibition space in the Roman Eur district, which brings together many technological innovations in the world of telecommunications, starting with those of Meucci and Marconi. And it is in this temple of technological, scientific and artistic revolutions that the "Hybrid Museum" project by Geo Florenti, a Romanian-born artist and energy technology innovator, fits in.
"In order to guarantee humanity the primary energy services to which it has been accustomed," Geo Florenti stressed, "a rapid replacement of conventional energy technologies is necessary, focusing on environmentally friendly solutions that are easy to implement, moving to using only minimal amounts of eco raw materials in the components through zero-impact production processes.
The proposed eco-friendly solutions, therefore, are revisiting the energy and lighting systems of museums, lowering energy consumption and simplifying materials, which are easy to produce.
