The island of Sicily in southern Italy is one of the country’s top tourist destinations, and now it is offering visitors the chance to stay an extra night for free.

The region’s president hopes the initiative will boost quality tourism by encouraging vacationers to stay longer. The scheme, named “See Sicily,” follows the lead of other Italian cities like La Spezia in extending holidaymakers’ stays for free.
