From the small tower located in the "Cortile d'onore" –literally the "Honour Courtyard" –with its distinctive clock standing right next to the Italian flag, to Carlo Maratta's famous painting of Virgin Mary holding baby Jesus or the 17th century staircase designed by Flaminio Pozzo, the Quirinal Palace is not short of masterpieces.
Pozzo's staircase leads to an impressive fresco by Melozzo da Forli titled "Il Redentore" ("The Reedemer"). From there, visitors can access the majestic "Salone dei Corazzieri" ("The Hall of the Guards") and the "Salone delle Feste" ("The Ballroom").
