The restaurateur behind several popular Italian restaurants in the Phoenix area is introducing a new pasta and steakhouse in Scottsdale called Americano. Owner Stefano Fabbri is known for Pomo pizzerias and the fine dining restaurant Mora Italian, which he co-owns with celebrity chef Scott Conant.
Fabbri's new project carries his nickname to reflect his dual Italian and American cultures."When Italians go to live in America, when you go back, they call you 'Americano,'" said Fabbri, who is originally from Italy. "They don’t call you anymore by name. You get a new nickname."
