Michelangelo Pistoletto, the celebrated Italian artist, has been officially nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize by the Gorbachev Foundation, with the Norwegian Nobel Committee accepting the nomination. This prestigious acknowledgment is a recognition of Pistoletto's enduring commitment to peace and social justice, themes that have been central to his art throughout his career.
Known for his contributions to contemporary art and his advocacy for societal change, Pistoletto’s nomination is rooted in his belief in art as a catalyst for peace. The only Italian to win a Nobel Peace Prize was Ernesto Teodoro Moneta, who was awarded the prize in 1907.
