Ciao from Rome! Welcome to the 83th issue of our online magazine. September is here, the summer has gone, and we are preparing for the October tour that will see us presenting We the Italians in 13 cities on the East Coast and in the Midwest (West Coast will be next, in 2017!). And, of course, we'll be marching in the Columbus Day Parade on the 5th avenue in New York.

But back to the summer: in August we had the privilege to present the Italian version of the book at Festival delle Storie, a beautiful literary festival in the marvelous Ciociaria, in the Lazio region. We were together with our friend Alberto Giuffrè, author of another book about Italy in the US: L'altra America. For those of you who can read Italian, we strongly advice to buy it: it's a great story of some of the American cities with an Italian name.

August also brought the terrible earthquake in another part of the Lazio region. We the Italians opened a page where everybody can find out how the Italian American organizations are helping: please take a look, choose one and donate. We will help a couple of the fundraisings advertised in the page, being the Italian liason (pro bono, of course) to ensure that every single dollar will arrive and be used exactly how the donors and the organizers will decide.

We would like to thank you, because during the summer we reached two important numbers. Even if we're just getting started, these are important goals: we have now 80,000 email addresses in our database, the one we send our newsletter to; and we've passed the 30,000 like on our Facebook page. Thanks! The best is yet to come, no doubt about it.

Last but not least, we're working on a surprise for next Columbus Day ... it will be an online surprise. We cannot tell more for now, just stay tuned on our social media and our website. Sneak preview: there's an hashtag involved. Or maybe two ... # #
