WTI Magazine #76    2016 February 15
Author : Umberto Mucci      Translation by:

Ciao from Rome! Welcome to the 76th issue of our online magazine. It's February 2016, and I'm about to leave for the US, where I'll be presenting my book "We the Italians. Two flags, One heart. One hundred interviews". A few days ago I had the privilege of presenting the book to H.E Armando Varricchio, the new Italian Ambassador to the US. I must say that H.E. Varricchio continues the tradition that has seen the best Italian diplomats in Washington. We the Italians is eager to work together with him and his staff at the Italian Embassy in DC.

Another privilege I had is to be able to present the book to Ambassador Emanuela D'Alessandro, the Diplomatic Counselor (the first woman in that position, ever) of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella, right before they left for the US: they've been reading the book on the plane over the Atlantic, and during their trip they met several of the interviewees protagonists of the book.

Finally yet importantly, I was happy to present the book at RAI Community with Benedetta Rinaldi (yes, she's back! And she's in the book, too), in the episode that has been aired on Friday February 12nd. You can check it out here.

The first We the Italians tour to the US will bring me to ten different presentations in nine cities. I hope that all of you who live nearby will be able to attend: I'll be honored to have with me some of the interviewees who live in the city where the presentation will take place, together with other important Italian personalities. Those of you who live in the areas where a presentation will be organized, will soon receive a flyer regarding the details of the event.

On February 23rd at 7 PM I'll be at Casa Belvedere in Staten Island, NY; on February 25th at6.30 PM at the Italian Cultural and Community Center in Houston, TX; on February 28th at 4 PM at Rio Rancho Country Club in Albuquerque, NM; on March 2nd at 5 PM at the Italian American Club in Las Vegas, NV; on March 3rd in Kansas City, MO; on March 4th at 7 PM at the Italian American Cultural Society in Detroit, MI; on March 7th at 6.30 PM at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL; on March 8th at 6.30 PM at Vino e tigelle Restaurant in Miami, FL; on March 9 at 6 PM at the American Italian Cultural Center in New Orleans, LA; on March 10th at 6.30 PM at the Italian American Museum in Manhattan, NY.

We're working on other exciting news: you just have to stay connected and soon some other changes will come straight to you. Please: take a look at which areas you subscribed too. We are changing our newsletter and soon we will restart sending one different for each area: those of you who subscribed for each area will receive 9 newsletters. That's all for now. So stay tuned, fasten your seat belt and enjoy the ride. The future's so bright, we gotta wear shades!
