October is Italian-American Heritage Month in Utah and the mayor's office, in partnership with the Salt Lake City Public Library, will celebrate and showcase 2013 as the Year of Italian Culture.
At 7 p.m. each Tuesday evening in October, the public is invited to visit the Salt Lake Main Library to learn more about Italy and Italian heritage, and explore what it means to be an Italian-American. All events will be held in the Level 4 Conference Room. Also, a display on Level 1 will feature the work of Italian artist Meo Carbone throughout the month.
On Oct. 8, there will be a presentation called You, Me, and Italy: Discovering and Preserving Your Family Tree. Ruth Lapioli-Merriman and Paola Manfredi from FamilySearch will help people access more information about their heritage.
