Kim Jong Grillin’ owner Han Ly Hwang and longtime cook Reuben DeMarco will bring Italian cold-cuts and chicken Parm to Southeast Portland at a new sandwich cart, DeMarco’s Sandwiches. At the new cart, DeMarco and Hwang will serve a short menu of Italian-American subs inspired in part by DeMarco’s days cooking at Italian restaurants in Boston.
So far, the highlights include the chicken and meatball Parms, which best highlight the Dos Hermanos bakery rolls. The opening is the first expansion in a couple of years for food cart All Star Hwang, who closed his spin-off Kim Jong Grillin’ Ssam last year and is no longer involved with Kim Jong Smokehouse, the Pine Street Market restaurant he opened with Earl Ninsom and BJ Smith.
