Join the Litchfield Historical Society on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 3 p.m. for a lecture by author Anthony Riccio, who will be discussing his new book Farms, Factories, and Families: Italian American Women of Connecticut. This oral history collection offers new insights into the Italian American experience, told from the women's perspective.

In the first half of the twentieth century, Italian American women were born into a life of work. From as young as four or five years old, they were expected to assist in the house or on the farm, leaving school if necessary, to help support the family.
