Even in Sicily, in the heart of the Mediterranean, Castiglione di Sicilia stands out as a beauty. It's a beautiful town, 9 miles from the sea and near the Etna volcano. It's well-known for its breathtaking landscapes, between volcanic peaks and beaches of the Ionian coast. It's home to the Castle of Lauria, a medieval landmark that looks out over the city, as well as, many historic churches.
It's also close to Alcantara Park, where you can explore incredible volcanic gorges. So, really, it has it all - history, nature and beaches! Recently, Castiglione di Sicilia launched the initiative, which has seen success in other small European villages, to revitalize its historic center and attract new residents by putting houses up for sale for a symbolic €1.
