Eataly, the artisanal Italian food purveyor, is opening a grab-and-go cafe concept on the Upper East Side later this year, according to new signs posted in the area. The new Eataly Caffè will be located at 1122 Lexington Ave., at the corner of East 78th Street, in what used to be a FedEx. The FedEx moved one block over, to 1370 Third Ave., according to a sign.
The new Eataly Caffè will cement the corner's gourmet identity, with Butterfield Market and Angelina Paris at the same intersection. At the cafe, Upper East Siders can expect a range of tea and espresso-based drinks, as well as freshly made pastries, gelato, cakes sold by the slice, and heaps of chocolate. The savory selection proves just as tempting, featuring paninis and Roman-style pizza studded with burrata and basil.
