The book, Bitter Chicory to Sweet Espresso, presents a human perspective never addressed before about WW II. Usually, books about the War tend to be military jargon written by military officers. The story is narrated by the author as a child from events that he saw and heard in Avella, Italy. The town is located in a valley which serves as a backyard to Naples. The story needed to be written, as many readers have attested as much.
It is believed that his interpretation of human and military events of that time will have an impact on scholars and readers for years to come. Reviews are included in this website. Libraries may purchase it from Brodart Co.
