
Italian American author David Baldacci was born in Richmond, VA, in 1960. He started writing in elementary school when his mother gave him a notebook, though he didn't start writing seriously until high school. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science.
He later attended the University of Virginia where he received his law degree. He practiced law for nine years in Washington, D.C. as a trial and corporate lawyer. In an interview with the Washington Post, David has said that "some of the best fiction I ever wrote was when I was a lawyer."
